Ewa Fornal graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań, Poland, in 2007. She lived in Dublin from 2008 to 2022, where she developed a practice rooted in the material fabric of the city – collecting fragments of urban surfaces and incorporating them into mixed media works on canvas and as objects. Her engagement with urban archaeology and material culture was noted by Paul Mullins, professor of anthropology at Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis, who wrote about her work in the context of abandonment and the layered history of city surfaces.

In 2012 she presented Scraping Off The Past, a solo exhibition at The Ivy House, Dublin. The same year, her mixed media collage The Three Graces was selected for the 11th Annual Art Inter/National Exhibition at BoxHeart Gallery, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – chosen from over 500 international submissions.

Ewa is also a poet and short fiction writer. Her work has appeared in Crannóg Magazine (Autumn 2018), the anthology The New Irish Writers (Dedalus Press), and the literary journal Literature Today.
